In our latest Card Game Showdown, we tested the Mattel Games Apples to Apples Party in a Box against the classic Apples to Apples, and the results were quite entertaining. The Party in a Box offers over 500 cards, expanding the game’s variety for more complex and laughter-filled rounds. We appreciated the clever curation of nouns and adjectives, which kept us engaged without overwhelming the new players we invited. The inclusion of a category card holder was a thoughtful touch, but we did notice it made shuffling slightly cumbersome. Overall, the Party in a Box is a delightful expansion, perfect for large gatherings, though the original Apples to Apples remains our go-to for solo family nights. Between the two, we’ll likely keep both on the rotation—but this box is a strong contender with its sheer card count and social energy.
